Local sports, fitness and outdoor recreation outfit, Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd,
now adds Igloo, The No.1 Cooler Brand in the World, to its repertoire.

Shah Alam, 10 March 2016 – Igloo Products Corp, the No.1 Cooler Brand in the World, has appointed leading outdoor adventure and sports leisure specialist, Universal Fitness & Leisure Sdn Bhd, as a distributor of its line of coolers and activity containers in Malaysia. The appointment comes timely as UFL celebrates 30 years in business this year.

US-based Igloo, the world’s largest manufacturer of activity containers – better known locally as coolers and ice boxes – is convinced that the time is just right to further solidify its retail footprint in Malaysia with none other than UFL at the helm.

“Igloo has had moderate success so far in Malaysia since setting foot in 2002. With the appointment of UFL, Igloo will have the advantage of having 30 years of industry experience on its side. UFL has
managed to penetrate every sector of the outdoor business successfully making its mark through the
years. UFL’s keen understanding on market expectations will allow for consumers to enjoy a fuller range of products. No stranger to the industry, UFL hopes to strengthen its imprint on the Malaysian outdoor adventure scene with this timely appointment.

“For 30 years now we have been industry players distributing internationally renowned sports, outdoor and fitness brands. Now with the appointment to distribute Igloo, The No.1 Cooler Brand in the World, our grip on the market strengthens due to our existing channels in the hypermarket, departmental stores, fishing shops, outdoor shops and the like,” said Dato Radha Krishnan, UFL Managing Director. UFL projects Igloo business to bring in an estimated RM 5 Million by end FY16. “The outdoor market is growing continuously and it is big enough for yet another major player,” he added.

UFL is planning to penetrate over 400 of its existing dealer network nationwide covering all major states. “We are also targeting Igloo’s colorful and innovative line of products at fishermen, anglers, campers, backpackers, outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor production crew, hospitals, long haul adventurers, mobile food peddlers, restaurants, hotels and households,” concluded Dato Radha.
